Testimonies:
My mother moved into Lucorja Adult Care Home on January 14, 2013. Prior to my mother moving there, she lived alone. During the past years of her life, she was diagnosed with several ailments. Diabetes was one of them. She gradually began showing signs that she needed assistance. She was not taking care of herself properly.
My mother had an aide coming in five days a week, two and three quarter hours a day for several years. She required more supervision by a CNA therefore the hours were increased to three hours a day for seven days. There were times that she had to be taken to the hospital because her blood sugar was very low.
My mother and I are the only ones of our family that lives in Charlotte, NC. I retired in 2008 because of health issues.
It was very hard for me to give my mother the amount of attention that she needed. She was beginning to need more and more. There were too many times that I could not go to see my mother because of my issues. I worried a lot and it affected me in several ways.
I feel blessed to have met the people that assisted me in many ways. I know that one day that my mother would probably have to move into a place where she could get the supervision that she needed.
I was told about Lucorja Adult Care Home operated by Lucian and Corliss Cooke. After speaking with Corliss Cooke and visiting the facility, I was very pleased. My brother who lives in Raleigh, NC visited Lucorja with me.
The place and the residents are well kept. I was pleased with the chart that showed the various activities that the facility offered. Since my mother has been there, she is getting the proper care that she needs.
I liked the fact that the facility was in a private setting and housed only four residents. I knew that my mother would adjust better to an environment such as Lucorja. I felt that she would get the attention that she needed. Another advantage for me is the location is not far from where I live.
I am no longer stressed and worried as much as I was prior to her moving to Lucorja. I am able to sleep better also. I know that she is being taken care of. She is eating and looking better. I am always notified of any situation. The attendants at Lucorja handle matters in the appropriate manner.
I would recommend this facility. I am well pleased and thankful.
Sincerely,
Barbara C.

To Whom It May Concern:
I went through a period of worry because my mother who was diagnosed with dementia, lived on her own and had been for years, had started to be afraid at night. She had an aide who came in six (6) days a week, which was good but she left before dark. I attempted to move her near me this did not pan out. My next step was to look for a place she would feel comfortable in, which was not an easy task. I wanted a home atmosphere, I thought that would be impossible to find. So i started to pray for a solution.
To make a long story short God showed me the perfect place: Lucorja Adult Care Home.
Here is what sets them above the rest:
Sincerely,
Perry J.

As a former resident of Lucorja Adult Care (Assisted Living). I take pride in talking about and sharing my experience when I was a live-in resident there. I lived at Lucorja for 5 years. My situation is unique because I am not only a dialysis patient, I am also legally blind. Now, I currently live alone on my own in a housing/ apartment complex for physically handicapped people.
With respect to my current living conditions, I can honestly say this would not be possible without the caring, guiding and loving touch of Lucian and Corliss Cooke and their staff. In my case, they were facing a variety of physical, emotional and perhaps even mental problems. (I have not always been blind). When I lost my eyesight, I went through a deep depression. The quality of care provided by Lucorja Care was excellent.
Safety along with cleanliness is especially important to me. Lucorja Adult Care is a very clean and safe environment. The staff was always respectful, caring and friendly. With their support, I regained my self confidence and independence. I endorse this long-term care facility whole-heartedly.
God Speed,
Sabra S.

I am sending this to you because this facility is near and dear to me. This is
the place that my mother moved to in 2007 when she could no longer
live alone and she lived there until she passed away in May 2010. I
visited her in 2009 and I was so happy that she was in a facility that made a
difference and really cared for her well being.
Thank you,
Lizette M.
